Victim identity theft
As instances of identity theft continue to grow around the world there are many victims of identity theft who do not know what to do, where to go or ultimately how to protect themselves in the future. There are also many victims of identity theft who are embarrassed and often feel as if they have brought it upon themselves when in reality this is exactly how the identity theft fraudsters want their victims to feel.

It is well known that the vast majority of ID thefts go unreported and the real figures could be significantly higher than those reported in the popular press. If you are a victim identity theft then you need to report what has happened to the police, your bank and any other financial companies whose services you use. It is also worthwhile carrying out an Experian (or other credit agency) check to see exactly what has been applied for in your name, what has been received and whether you are able to trace those involved.
However it is vital that those who fall victim to identity theft make sure they report it because ultimately unless the authorities are fully aware of the situation, the tactics used, strategies used and ultimately who is carrying out these frauds and there is nothing that can be done. It is also vital that we do not sit back and assume ID theft is something which will never happen to us, because ultimately the vast majority of those in the UK, and other developed countries, will at some stage be a potential victim.
Conclusion
Knowing how to react, how to protect yourself and ultimately knowing the latest scams could prove vital to your financial well-being, both now and in the future.
